  1. Are people on this sub just trying to kill themselves? I eat spicy food because it provides flavors I normally never see.

Spice is a barrier to a new world, not some mountain to be conquered. If this allows people people to enjoy the flavors, let’em do it.

I love this sub, but sometimes, y’all just come off as masochists.

  2. This is brilliant. I adore the flavor of habaneros, scorpians and ghosts and would love to be able to experience it without burning the hell out of my mouth and butthole. Fantastic news.

For those of you who think this whole thing is stupid and people should experience the spice, you can always visit r/masochism if you want to learn more ways to hurt yourself

Today, I have gazed upon the face of evil and have declared him my foe.

Having toned-down peppers as a clearly labeled alternative option is all well and good; not everybody likes spice. But what I’m concerned about is that they’ll start quietly *replacing* the regular versions with these new ones, sort of like how it’s a crapshoot nowadays whether jalapeños will have any heat at all.

  5. I’d love this. Then I could let more food simmer with the peppers and my wife could use this to eat it. Now I have to add most of the spice after it’s served, and it looses some of it’s depth.

This is something I would expect out of the Professor’s mouth from Futurama as unsanitary as that sounds.

  7. Trivia: Prik Nahm Pla is often used to suppress the spiciness of Thai Curry. If you are ever in a Thai restaurant without this condiment, I suggest you never return.

  8. I think this is actually a good thing since in theory it would allow me to cook my food as spicy as I want and then let my family tone it down instead of me having to spice mine up after the fact. I do almost all the cooking so it would be nice not having to worry about other tolerance levels.

I thought that condiment was caller sour cream.

I’m all for stuff to kill the heat existing… I’ll pass.

I read that title 3 times and still have no idea what it is saying.
